The Week of the Flood

Because of flooding at the school, we will be unable to meet this week. I would, however, like to assign some homework so that we can hit the ground running on Monday, March 22nd.

Juniors: Read the first page (read up to chapter 34) of the Gospel of Peter in your packet and write a one-page (300 words, double-spaced, and typed) essay answering the question: How is the Gospel of Peter crucifixion account different than the accounts provided by the other New Testament Gospels?

Also, I want you to complete the computer lab assignment (this is not optional, but required) that is in your packet (you only have to go up to question 13). You can log on to the Jesus to Christ website here to start the assignment

Finally, I want you to read the Resurrection Accounts in the four gospels and answer the study questions in your packet (they're pretty short, so it shouldn't be too bad). If you don't have your bible, you can read it online here.

I will be taking some time on Monday to collect this material, so it's important that you make the time to complete these assignments. Although this is an unexpected vacation, it's important that we stay on task and focused on our work. By doing your part now means that the work load will remain even (and not burdened!) once we return to the school.

Seniors: The plan was to work on displays/presentations for the Social Justice Fair. I do think, however, that you can still do a lot of the work on your own. Starting tomorrow, there will be post on the Fontbonne web page of a wiki website that you can log onto and download information about preparing for the Social Justice Fair.

Fortunately, you should have a lot of this information already (I handed out a guidelines sheet for presentations and displays at the same time I gave you the information sheet about what type of project you wanted to do at the fair). Again, If you don't have the guidelines, you can go to the wiki website and download it. Here's some things to think about in regards to your project:

Display: Make sure you go out and get a poster board (three-sided stand alone) and all the necessary supplies you will need to design the display. The guidelines I gave to you provide detailed instructions about what the display should look like. If you could have the materials you need for constructing the display: poster board, pictures, and information you would like to have on the display (e.g. themes, topic info, et al) ready for Monday, that would be great. So my expectation is that by Monday you will have all the necessary material together to CONSTRUCT the display.

Presentation: If you are working with other people, you should be getting together with them sometime this week to start brainstorming about your presentation. My expectation is that by Monday you will have a general plan of how you will proceed: How will you open? What will you do for your demonstration? (e.g. video, quiz, brochure, etc) What's the take-away message for your audience? Again, there is information on the Wiki website that can help you develop your presentation.
